Triage: Taking care of the most severely ill and injured first
Triage ensures that the most severely injured and acutely ill patients are seen and treated first, regardless of when they arrive in the department. Our triage nurses make sure that critically or severely injured patients are taken immediately into the treatment area. Patients with non-life threatening or less severe illnesses or injuries are asked to register and may have to spend time in the waiting area.
Why do some patients have to wait?
Visits to the Emergency Department are unscheduled, making it very difficult to predict how long your wait will be if you are suffering from an injury or illness that does not require immediate attention. After you’ve seen a physician, proper diagnosis and treatment may involve many types of tests.
We always have your best interest in mind and are committed to providing compassionate and efficient care if you face a medical emergency. We encourage individuals with non-life threatening injuries or illnesses to seek treatment with their physician or visit one of our Urgent Care locations.
