Care & Services : IRC Hemorrhoid Procedure
Adena’s Colon and Rectal Program provides patients with a non-surgical treatment option for irritating hemorrhoids.
If you’re suffering from inflamed hemorrhoids, you are not alone. Over 10 million Americans endure the itching, burning, bleeding, and discomfort associated with hemorrhoids.
Conservative management with fiber supplement, warm baths and topical medications is often all that is needed to treat simple hemorrhoid disease, but more serious cases may require a painful surgery.
However, Dr. Michael Fealk, Director of Adena’s Colon and Rectal Program, offers a painless office procedure for more difficult hemorrhoids called infrared coagulation (IRC). The process does not involve cutting, minimizes discomfort and provides speedy recovery. Additionally, treatment with IRC oftentimes eliminates the need for surgery altogether.
What is IRC?
With IRC, the hemorrhoid site is bombarded by infrared light causing the tissue to shrink. IRC is a painless, non-surgical treatment administered in the doctor’s office. The procedure takes minutes and a patient can resume their normal activities immediately.
Will my insurance cover IRC?
The IRC procedure is covered by most health insurance companies, as well as Medicare and Medicaid.
